recently bought a Gillette Khaki set off the 'Bay, and it arrived yesterday. Initial impressions are good. The entire kit seems to be in good shape, with very little plating wear to the razor itself, the blade case is in great shape, the mirror is still usable and the case only shows some signs of water staining. The handle is the letdown though, as the upper ferrule is (was) loose in the center section due to the requisite crack in the center section. A bit of super glue fixed that up (for the time being)
Serial number is G837374 which would place it at the high end of the "G" series, and likely towards the end of 1918. My personal feelings given the condition of the piece, are that it is unissued, and went straight to surplus after the armistice. There were no blades included in the case, but a used Wilkinson (newer looking mfg) was in the head, so it has been used, just not terribly much, judging from the plating condition.
