New American Airlines livery, for all the plane geeks

$logo.jpg

Logo has leaked, unveiling is supposed to be a 10 EST. Haven't seen a leak of any plane pics yet, which is impressive as long as this has been coming on.

And the livery. Ugh. I think I just threw up a little in my mouth. Stevie Wonder would flinch at that tail.

any one remember when flying was not like getting processed for prison and planes looked cool ?
you know back in the old days...you could cross your legs. Im not making that up its true.
we even got metal cutlery, really.

I was waiting for the answer to be "It looks like a big Tylenol".

I'm not sure I like it at all. But then again, I like rather plain looking, spartan designs.

I think it would save on weight as only the tail and company name are painted

Is the remainder of the airframe unpainted or clear coated?

I would imagine that there would need to be something over the skin to protect it from the elements?

It is all painted, the new generation aircraft have large portions that are composite so it can't be polished, so our whole fleet will be painted. Most of us feel that it ugly as home-made soap!

One word: FUGLY! If I were an AA pilot I'd want a raise for just being seen around that monstrosity. AA had a great idea for the age of aluminum aircraft: polished aluminum saves on the cost of paint and gives you more payload. Why mess with something that works?!

I do. Now flying is like riding Greyhound, just a bit faster.

I remember when airliners had those spinney things out on the wings.

Here is a pic I took of the first airliner I flew in....

And... YES.. That is a 3 tailed Lockheed Constellation on the tarmac and notice there is not a fence around the "airport"

IMO that Connie is the prettiest aircraft to ever carry passengers. What a great big sexy bird that was!
