I've never tried it. My pre-shave has been King C. Gillette Facial Wash or Neutrogena Fragrance-free Bar Soap for quite some time now. I tried the Proraso Green Pre-shave but the scent put me off eventually, so I gave it to a friend.

No, it's not. But, ya know, like a lot of us on here, I've found a lot of unfancy stuff that works great and a lot of fancy stuff that works poorly.* And I've found a lot of fancy stuff that works great and unfancy stuff that works poorly.

As ever, our mileage may vary.


*I value the variety, but the shave I get from Cella is in the same class as the shave I get from SV.

I know just what you mean. It's very nice at first, but it cloys before too long.

I've tried several pre-shave products. Found that good old Cremo works as good, or better, than any of them.

I've been using the white for well over a year now. I never loved the scent, but it's pleasant enough, and I've never gotten sick of it. It's like Nivea that way.

Well, it was an unqualified success. It was noticeably slicker, with no noticeable loss of any other attribute. I'm certainly going to be trying it the next few shaves, too, and am hopeful that I'm going to be able to move Proraso pre-post to the just-there-for-variety roster.

Today's shave was one of the best shaves I've ever had! The Kai Kasho Captain Woody Folding SR has joined the select group of my Alpha Big Dog razors. Goes without saying that the Kai is highly efficient, but it is also quite smooth, nimble & maneuverable (used with care), and highly predictable. An impressive, exceptionally effective razor!

Interesting that the Kai Protouch MG blade has lasted for 43 passes. Maybe AC blades last longer in SRs? Don't know and would appreciate feedback from those who have more experience.

I'm pleased to report that the WSP Dragon's Blood Cream has joined my regular rotation. Great tub cream!

Very, very pleased with this kit!

Shave number 11 in a row with the Kai Kasho Captain Woody Folding Straight Razor! Muscle memory is getting dialed in and shaving with this wonderful razor is getting really intuitive. My results are very consistent depending on the number of passes. My shaves are blood and irritation free. Today's shave was no exception, outstanding performance and results!

Different Supporting Cast for this week:

Proraso Red Cream is a very reasonably priced tube cream with great performance. Bats well above the price.

Big Cashmere Fan brushes (like the AP Shave Co Red 30mm Cashmere Fan) are great for bowl lathering and really nice on the face. This brush is also an excellent value.

The Shave Nation bowl is ALMOST as good as my Captain's Choice Copper bowl. It's a very good bowl.

Went with the outstanding Clubman Pinaud aftershave this week. Very refreshing after my shave.

Unchanged are my pre- and post-shave products: Cremo as a pre-shave and Nivea post-shave balm. Both work really well for me.
