Fumbling about.

Guess we shall see. Doesn’t appear to be a lot of difference as of yet.

How long do you soak your brushes in this stuff?

Mine came in a box.

Just a few minutes. I make it according to directions using a pail from the auto parts store which is marked at the gallon level. Maybe 5 minutes. Maybe 10 minutes. Sometimes I give all my brushes a bath just to get them clean. Not that they need it necessarily, but it only takes a little bit of work and time. Mostly I only bath brushes new to me but previously used by someone and brushes which are performing weirdly.

I stir the brushes around some in the bath water to make sure the water gets everywhere. Probably overkill, but, hey, washing machines move things around so why can't I.

The SOC and some other brushes can have a very long break in time and require many wet-dry cycles.

Happy shaves,

Jim

Yours got hit by lightning or something. :a47:

I've only seen my 1250 Semogue boar do that, I've never had an Omega boar look like the OP's. I don't use the 1250 anymore much it,has no backbone.

I also have only Omega boar brushes and have never hax them do this. But the OPs brush looks a little similar to a SOC boar brush on some of Michael Freedberg's YouTube video.

I wonder what the difference is with these brushes. Maybe just a bad batch of knots?

I've used an Omega boar almost daily for eight or nine years and it has never had a bad hair day like that. However, yours makes an absolutely beautiful artistic photo. Keep it.

So..after a couple baths in Ship Shape solution, it appears the demons were exorcised. Still losing a couple hairs every so often but hopefully that will cease soon.
Unlike my other boars, this one has minimal backbone. Looks like it’ll be a bowl lather specialist.

Glad you got it into shape! That’s what’s great about this site, so much knowledge & all it takes to tap into it is posting the question. Great job gentlemen!

That's the spirit!

Wonder if there was some soap residue. Might try one more wash in Dawn.

I was thinking it looks like there's some kind of oil in it, maybe a really oily hair conditioner? My SOC doesn't look anything like that. Considering the thrown bristles, is it possible it's shed so many that it's gotten sparse?
