After going to an ENT Dr. for a sinus infection he suggested a Neti Pot rinse once a day. Anybody have any luck with one?
Tried one and it works, but found I prefer the plastic squeeze bottle I bought at Walgreens, Neil Med Sinus Rinse. Works with the head upright and to me has a similar effect. Just seems easier to use to me.
I use the same. It really does work but you have to stay disciplined for it to benefit preventively. I can feel fine, use the rinse, and still be amazed how much it clears me up when I thought I didn't need it. One word of caution - don't use it if you're too plugged up or have a sinus infection. I did this during a bad sinus infection and it plugged my ears. NO rinse can unblock something serious. Here' s the one I use (NeilMed Sinus Rinse). I picked it up at CVS. It's a squeeze bottle not a neti pot. It works great. The only problem is I am not in the habit of using it.
I love my neti pot. Keeps me from getting congested and snoring at night. I neti pot at night before showering.
I prefer the bulk neti salt to the packets but I do use packets (and a plastic neti pot) when I travel.
My doctor said I can use good old kosher salt, much much cheaper than the packets.
The Neti Salt is buffered with bicarb to prevent stinging. If it works for you, go for it. I have also seen sea salt used.
