Neroli

Who makes a neroli AS?

I'm serious. Not cologne, but a splash or balm or something nice.

I love this smell. It is one of my all time favorite scents in shaving products. Unfortunately, I have only smelled it in oils like the sample of T&H preshave oil someone gifted.

Wow. Good question. I don't believe anything like this exists.

Neroli, like sandalwood & rose, is worth its weight in gold. So likely, an EO-based neroli AS wouldn't be cheap (FO-based is another story). I've also found that neroli, by itself, is somewhat of an acquired taste. There's an almost medicinal overtone to the scent; it's much nicer when blended with other, complementary oils.

A year or so ago Mama Bear did a custom run of EO-based neroli soap (I think she has some listed on her website now). It's very nice but I don't know that I'd want to use a neroli soliflore AS. However, Mama Bear is so accommodating that I'm sure she'd be happy to whip up a custom-scented Neroli AS for you ... as long as you're willing to pay the price. :scared:

Try Pinaud Eau de Portugal. It is (oddly) sold as a "hair tonic" nowadays, but in the past was, as I understand it, sold as an aftershave, and as been well attested to on B&B has the same ingrediants in the same proportions as the Pinaud aftershaves and is otherwise indistinguishable from an aftershave.

To me it is very Neroli in scent and is wonderful stuff in every respect, and extremely inexpensive.

Stay tuned, it's in our February Newsletter.

What a great idea--can't wait for the newsletter myself now!

The EdP definitely has some Neroli in there and it works great as an aftershave. You should also keep Hoyt's in mind for a low cost neroli cologne. Smells good too.

From what I've found out, there seems to be a ratio of 2 -5 drops of EO per oz of alcohol. Now 1 ml of EO should yield 20 drops, give or take. 3 ml of pure neroli oil costs 30.52. That gives you 60 drops, divided by 5, that's enough for 12 oz of aftershave at a cost of roughly $2.50 per oz. Not too shabby. :)

I took some Nivea sensitive aftershave, and added some Neroli and Grapefruit EO to it, and I think it turned out great. It's my everyday aftershave.

I think of Hoyts as more dominated by bergamot than neroli, but there is definitely a good deal of nerolii in there. If one likes neroli they will probably like Hoyts though. I would say that to me, after all these other scents, Hoyts smells as good as any of them. Wonderful stuff. But no tenacity. But in an AS no one should really be looking for tenacity.

There's also a Hoyt's Bergamot. Have you ever tried it? It's supposed to be a hair tonic. The bottle is even smaller than the Hoyt's cologne in glass.

The bottle of Bergamot is at the top of the list:

Never tried it. For $6 would be willing to order it though. 3/4 oz! I have some of the Tres Flores. 4 oz bottle. Not much scent to it to me.

This one is a real YMMV. It smells a little like bergamot and turpentine to me, which is not a scent that I would intentionally request. I'll have to give it another try to be fair about judging it.

Nice work on the C&S scoop. I hate to spend that kind of $ blindly, but it does say it is an lotion aftershave and I am thinking splash.

Can you imagine if they offered the shave soap in this? Their SS is top shelf.

I am gonna try Sue's for sure. Can't wait Sue. Make me a deal though, nothing sticky with a toning dry down.

Love their Neroli EdT. The scent is awesome.

However, I had a bad experience using their O&C AS. To me, it was a watered-down version of the cologne. There certainly didn't seem to be any skin-toning or moisturizing ingredients in it. My face, post-shave, felt hot, red & tight after using it. For hours. I used it as an AS exactly once.

I'm not saying it would be the same w/the Neroli AS. But then again ...
