Nerdy Question on Materials

Hello,

I am working on some pens design and I was hoping someone could help me out with a specific question.
What is the material and specifically the finish of the Rotring 600's black barrel. Is that just paint? why does it not peel off? Is it some sort of powder coating (i.e paint and electrical charge?).
Also is it possible to apply a PVD coating to a pen, say a brass barrel? or is that only for steel?

As far as I can tell, black metal is a cool choice for pens but it seems difficult to get right. You have your ruthenium which is very/slightly glossy and not "proper" black, you have your rubberised coating, which is rubbish from an endurance point of view especially on sharp edges, and then there is the Rotring "gritty" 600 which is pretty tough finish and also the Rotring trio which had a satin black, quite durable too, that's why these i'd be interested in knowing more about.

Many thanks for any tips or pointer on this.

According to jetpens.com
Rotring 600 ( in part)
It has an all metal brass body, traditional knurled grip, fixed 4 mm sleeve, lead grade indicator (with knurled metal casing) and clip. The guide pipe gives an excellent view of the lead. Weighs 0.63 oz (18 g).

And yes they are a great writing instrument. I love them.
Cheers:)

What type of electro chemical paint would be used on brass? not anodising i suppose. This one does look very gritty.
I have just bought one off amazon, waiting for it to be delivered, I admit it makes me drool a little.

Brass can be anodized.
