Need your advice on alum block - is it a reaction or what?

I've dropped alum from my routine about 6 months into wetshaving this year. I figured that it was very drying and not necessary. My skin/routine doesn't miss it, especially as I have dry skin during the colder months. It didn't light me up though -- skin just felt tight and dry.

Exactly this. No need at all. Skip it.

I only use an alum block if I have a rough shave and I have a few weepers. Other then that I just splash with Lucky Tiger and I'm good to go for the day. Using it after every shave is a bit excessive if your sensitive to it.

Alum irritated my skin in a big way. Made mild irritatilon much worse, not better. Dropped it, and no more problems. IMO, there’s no huge benefit, so if it’s a problem, just ditch it.
