What's new

Need some help with shoes.

Hey everyone, I work in a grocery store, specifically in the meat market and I need some recommendations for some shoes. I am currently wearing some black and silver Nike Shox and I want something a little more fashionable. Our uniforms are a blue polo shirt with black pants and our shoes must be mainly black. In the past I've worn skateboard shoes, a pair of Doc Martens, Merrall slip-ons and now the Nikes. I'm looking for something fashionable yet not too striking, it must be comfortable since I'm on my feet all day, and I guess around $80-$120 give or take. If you need anymore info let me know, thanks in advance!

I have Clark desert boots in the tan suede, and think that they would absorb a lot of mess from the floor at your meat market. I haven't worn any myself, but have heard good things about Rockport shoes for people who stand a lot at work. Not very expensive, I believe. Would suggest something with a "hard" leather outer, not suede, that would be easy to wipe off.

Yeah I'm not a fan of them in black either. You can't even wear the grey ones or something?
Unfortunately no, I am thinking of getting some in beeswax though and oddly enough up until a few weeks ago I thought they were the ugliest shoes I've ever seen ha ha!

In typical B&B fashion, here is something slightly higher in price (at least they're on sale!) but still stylish and would hold up well.

Diesel makes some pretty cool/dressy, all black sneakers in that price range. For a bit more, Camper is making something of a comeback lately. I've always liked them.

Check out the Doc Marten's web site. They've got a lot of nice looking shoes on sale that would fit your use case and your budget.

There are a few Dr. Martens I've been looking at but I've had a pair before and they're comfortable at first but that drops off quickly.

See if something strikes you from SAS or Rockport. They are very comfortable for periods when I need to be on my feet for long periods....and light too.

"Got Shoes?"
Check out the Red Wings in the Postman model.
Also check out Shoe for Crews as they have many different models of slip resistant shoes.

Doc Martens. There are so many new styles now on their website, but I personally would sport the 1460's all day long if I could :)

If you must have black, I would recommend something like these Thorogood boots.

I don't have personal experience with these, but I know others who have had other Thorogoods and have said that they are every bit as well built as Red Wings but at a much more affordable price. They are made in the USA, are Goodyear welted, and use quality leathers. These have Vibram soles, which would be much better than the crepe soles on the desert boots. Again, I have no experience with these boots, but do some reading on Thorogood. They are a very highly regarded brand.
