Need some advise Wood, Wedges and Neatness

Okay s I have done a few scales and I love working by hand with wood. There is just a big problem with the wedges.

The problem is getting them nice and neat and flush, I use CA on the scales and with the polishing this tends to round the inside of the scales slightly and alter the shape of the end of the scales so a pre-cut wedge doesn't fit post CA.

What I have been doing is making the scales finishing them and then make the wedge slightly concave to accommodate the scales better, then re-ca the wedge area of the scales and re-polish, it just doesn't feel as good as it could be.

The problem is if I glue the wedge to the scales pre CA coating I cannot coat or polish the interior of the scales is there a good way of doing this?

The paths I am looking at to explore next are

- glue a pretreated wood veneer to the inside of the scales "no need to ca or sand the inside so it will end up flush for the wedge?

- Micro fasten the wedge to each side of the scales and ca coat the inside of them 1st. Then remove the wedge ca coat the exterior of the scales, after that glue the wedge in place and do a final ca seal around the wedge and polish the whole thing up.

If you have any experience in the matter it would be greatly appreciated

What I usually do is do all the CA first. Inside and outside of the scales, then I rouch cut the wedge, pin it in place then put CA in the gaps and clamp it. then sand down the wedge end and resand (you will mess up your nice CA job on the wedge end a little bit) Then I apply coats of CA on the wedge end as a whole and sand smooth.

Ends up looking very nice, like one flowing peice.

Working with wood I've never treated the inside other than using a liner for it. I'm not sure if treating the wood on the inside would really make a difference.
