Need soap advice

Hi english guy here, new to these forums and the world of DE shaving :001_smile

I have always had really sensitive skin and have found that switching from all that cartridge razor junk to a DE has improved my skin alot! I have been using a German soap called sebamed to both wash my face and shave but the lather is rubbish!

So my question is are there any decent shaving soaps out there for very sensitive skin?

First off, welcome to B&B! :thumbup1:

There are probably many threads on this topic if you do a bit of searching around the forums but some creams and soaps have a 'sensitive' version that might be what you're looking for. Proraso 'sensitive' (the Aloe and Green Tea one in the white container) and La Toja 'sensitive' are two great soaps that I use regularly. I think that there are also unscented soaps that might be good as well but no names come to mind at the moment... I'm sure other sensitive soap experts will be along shortly to help you out! :001_smile

Living in limey land, you should have fair access to two of the three Ts: Trumper's and Taylor of Old Bond Street.

Since you're looking for a soap, I'd look at Trumpers' offerings: Coconut, Rose, Sandalwood and Almond are all terrific and a decent value for the money.

Searching the forum will provide you with myriad opinions; suggestions; values; options; what have you.

Good luck, and again, welcome :thumbup1:

Edit: Don't forget D.R. Harris! They're a little pricey, sure, but all in all, are a great value for the money. I can't fault anything they make in terms of soaps and creams. In fact, I'd place them ahead of the aforementioned Taylor's and Trumper's.

Try Speick, it's a very natural product, it doesn't contains artificial colorants or parfums, it has some germans certificates of quality in natural cosmetics. I start using the Shaving cream and Shaving stick this year without problems, and I get comfortable shaves.

And I think that you can try the well known products of UK suppliers as Mitchell's Wool Fat or Kent Soap, D. R. Harris soaps....

I second that. Trumper's Rose is essential for sensitive or dry or combination skin types. :thumbup1:

What is your skin sensitive to? It may just be sensitive to bad shaving like lots of us.

As for product recommendations; try the high st. first; Palmolive and Ingram creams, Palmolive stick, Boots stuff etc. But the product you can't do without living in the UK is MWF/Kent SS; available in John Lewis for around £5, its amazing stuff but is a very hard soap and may need some practice to lather well.

It's easy to get lather, but some steps are needed, read the tutorial that I have written,.....you can find the link in my signature

+1 to Palmolive shaving stick (Tesco, ASDA, etc. for about 60p or less). Mitchell's Wool Fat/Kent (short, paper wrapped cylinder) at John Lewis is great, and there's another soap wrapped in paper that I bought at John Lewis for only a few quid. It doesn't have the maker's name on it anywhere. Just a vegetable-based soap wrapped in paper. It's lightly scented, so it may work well for you.

Art of Shaving has an unscented soap that's great but will cost more than the above recommendations.
