Why not just stick with VDH and add whatever fragrance you want as someone else suggested? I always melt my VDH into my soap dish and it would be very easy to add fragrance (your favorite A/S or cologne) at that point. I know you said up thread that you want to branch out but knowing exactly how to make perfect lather every time is worth something.
