Need Recommendations

I am trying to maybe start getting into fountain pens but have no clue about them at all. I was wondering if someone could give me a good place to start.

You haven't given us any indication of your price range, so I'll assume we're talking about the low end of the price spectrum (starter pen, after all).

One which I can highly recommend is the Lamy Safari which costs around $30. It comes in a wide variety of colors; I purchased three of them, one with a red barrel, another with a black barrel, and the last with a blue barrel. I keep all three loaded with Noodler's ink of a matching color. You can get a converter or you can refill the ink cartridges after each use. I have done the latter many times with my black ink and it works well and is non messy.

Some people don't like the triangular grip of the Lamy. Others like it because it helps one keep to the proper grip. And, by the way, the grip is important, so whatever pen you eventually decide upon, learn the proper grip for fountain pens as it makes writing much more pleasant.

With it being my first fountain pen, I would definitely want to go more on a cheaper side but not so cheap as it would give me a false feeling about how a fountain pen works. Does that make any sense?

A Pilot Metropolitan will set you back about $15.00. Many people feel that it performs as well as (or outperforms) many pens costing several times as much.
