Need new face wash

I've been using Real Shave Company's Face Wash -- the creamy stuff, not the scrub -- but it appears as though they may have stopped making it.

Don't have an ingredient list, but it certainly has some moisturizing properties. I'd use it in the shower, pre-shave.

I've tried some Dove, and some really mild Nivea, but both have been overdrying.

Anyone have any suggestions for something close to the RSC wash?

I don't have a lot of experience in this area, but one that worked well for me (not well enough to keep using mind you) is Every Man Jack [EMJ]. I can't say that it is particularly moisturizing, but I do live in Tucson, AZ so the fact that it wasn't drying could be worth something to you. Also, Leisureguy had a recent blog post about pre-shave soaps that might be helpful: http://sharpologist.com/2012/01/get-ready-5-pre-shave-soaps-that-really-work.html. I have tried the 365 glyceerin soap from Whole Foods (~$1.80 + tax for 4oz.), but sodium cocoate base was a bit to drying for me.

Never tried the Real Shave Co product, but I really like the Anthony Logistics glycolic facial cleanser. It seems like some people have found it to be a little drying but I haven't had that problem, and works pretty well as far as a pre-shave product in the shower goes.

My dermatologist recommended CeraVe cleanser. I use the "Normal to Oily" as in the summer, as the Texas heat/humidity really makes my face greasy. It works great for me. Available at the drugstore or online.

I use Jack Black Daily Cleanser. It goes on smoothly and washes off easily. My face doesn't feel dry but afterwards I do get a slight "tightening feeling". Maybe the Sage extract. I recommend it.

Lab Series for Men Multi Action Face Wash has been been my go-to for a while now, great stuff. Last weekend I picked up a bottle of Kiehls Facial Fuel and it's pretty good stuff as well.

Can't go wrong with either.

+1

i was planning on coming in here and recommending this stuff because it doesn't get talked about a ton on here and you had already beat me to it.

For those of you with drier skin you also make one that's Normal to Dry as well. I bought this for myself and us it daily and SWMBO decided to try it and started using my bottle before she got her own because she liked it so much.

I've used the EMJ face wash and just never liked it. It got the job done but something about smelled not right, very off putting. Right now I'm just using the Neutrogena in the pump bottle which gets the job done, the solid bar works well also especially the little bitty ones to just toss in a dopp bag. My favorite though which I should really order again was the Uno Ultra Black face wash. It has activated charcoal which is awesome. I have combination skin I guess, most of my face has no issues but my forehead gets oily when I sweat.

If you're looking for a gentle/non-drying face wash, you won't be let down with either Cetaphil or Spectro Jel.

I just picked up a tube of Origins Checks and Balances Face Wash and am really liking it so far. I have oily/combo skin and this stuff really is geared towards just that skin type. I got a sample at the Origins store and went back and bought the full-size product. I find it to be much better than the Aveda Botanical Kinetics Gel Cleanser, which I had been using prior to this. You need less of the Origins and get that clean but not stripped feeling. Try it.

Thanks for the all of the suggestions. I'll give some of them a try eventually.

I happened upon some Neutrogena creamy face scrub and have been using that. I'd used it years ago, prior to the RSC.

In all this, I was reminded that my skin does not react well to any and all Nivea products. Balm. Cream. Moisturizer. Weird.

I have been pretty happy with Naturopathica Clarifying Facial Wash...

In fact all of their products are top shelf. I used to get occasional breakouts on my face but have had a clear face ever since using this product. Their stuff is a bit pricey but is very high quality, natural, and lasts a long time. I would say you get a good 6 months out of this wash.

Interesting line. I've never heard of Naturopathica before. I'm going to try their face wash myself at some point I think. But $58 for 2.5oz. of moisturizer? Yikes! Though I suppose you can't put a price on results, assuming of course, the stuff is legit and actually works.

It is legit and works very well... plus it has the added bonus of being completely natural, scoring the highest marks on the SkinDeep EWG database and smelling really great. Give a try to the bergamot line as well, amazing.
