Need help with a straight razor and thick beard

I skipped my preshave shower today for the first time in a long time.
I still got a BBS shave, but it was a little less easy to do.

If you missed your preshave shower you can always apply a face cloth soaked in hot water for a minute or two. You might find that helpful. Most barbers do that before a straight razor shave.
