I picked up a Progress last weekend and I had an idea to paint the numbers on it as they are a little difficult to see sometimes. I bought some Testors metallic blue model paint and tried to apply it to the numbers and then wipe it way with a paper towel under the premise that only the excess would wipe away leaving paint in the impressed numbers on the handle. It didn't work. I wound up just wiping the paint right off. Would a different paint work better? Are the numbers not stamped deeply enough into the Progress for this technique to work?

You may need a primer first for the paint to stick.
I've used this technique with a Slim before, and it worked fine. Never owned a Progress, so I don't know if it is different.
No brush is fine enough. Paint with a toothpick?
I'd say, use a different paint. I've heard that auto touch up paint works wonders. Or maybe even some acrylic (not sure what model paint is).
Best thing I've heard of using is a Sharpie Paint Pen, Extra Fine. Works on metal, permanent, and superb control.
