What's new

Need a little help. Did I pay too much?

I picked these up today in the hopes someone here on B&B a straight user would/could appreciate them. I have no desire to um to go um straight.*cough* Didn't come out right there did it.:biggrin1: ANYWAYS. What do you think? $60 too much to pay for these? Thanks in advance.

Right: Thiers Issard Super Gnome "69"
Left: Yankee Razor works?

Wish I knew! Just liked the design of the "victorian era" razor. Funny it's Yankee but say's Germany on the box & razor. Dang out sourcing:)

You did good. The TI would go for at least that much. Get them honed and um... Go straight. If you dont like it then the bst would help move them for you.

Thanks, like I said these were for here specically and would have regretted not buying it. They both are chip free on the razors edge so that was a start. Also it has 729 near the pivot of the razor and "Magnetized". I thought we were a bunch of magnetic people already here on B&B :p The blade really sings just testing the Yankee edge. Neat.

Both blades appear to be in very servicible condition. Get them honed and give it a try.

LOL. Wouldn't know the first thing about that or who to go to. I'm sure there are some reputable Whipped dog? who could turn these into beauties. Not for me.

Doc can!!

LOl...and Doc is...you see I should have just stayed in the DE realm. Much easier. From the looks of it it may be 5 1/4 length 5/8th razor. That help? Got that off another site advertising for the same razor with a carving of a light house. Looks the same.

All these excuses. You let those go, you'll want 'em back when you do want to try. What would you say if someone offered to hone them for free / cost of shipping so's you could try your hand at it before letting them go?

Edit: ah, I see the doctor is in the house. Kewl.

:biggrin1: Not going to happen. Here's what would happen. I'd slice a finger off, let go of it, then slice it in my toe. That's after I attempt to shave and be left with fish gill marks down either side of my face. Yeah, no thanks. I'm handsome enough thank you!
But your generosity is appreciated with thanks for the offer. I'll have the Doc fix them up and some lucky B&B member will get them at cost.(minus his hone & sharpening to get them shave ready) I'm not looking to make anything off them just wanted to pass them on:)

You can get what you paid for them, even couple $$ more IMO. The person who buys them can hone them, there's nothing to be fixed as far as I can see

Thanks guys. Looks like Doc gave them a clean bill of health and will hone them when he has time. I'm in no hurry for them.
