Nancy Boy ASG & increased weepers?

First off I really like the smell of Nancy Boy ASG and how well it gets absorbed into my skin when applied. I've now used it enough times that I can say that every time I apply this, rather than performing any astringency to my skin, it seems to promote bleeding. Using Nanncy Boy is almost always followed by a visit to my neck from Mr. Stypic - an atypical thing with other AS.

Does anybody else share this experience? Can anybody recommend a different brand with a similar scent?

Thanks!

Read the ingredients. If it doesn't have alum, witch hazel, or some alcohol, you're not going to get much of an astringency effect from it. Proportions of those things matter too. Astringents help close pores and can stop minor bleeding. But if it's a nick or a bad weeper, you'll have try a nick stick, styptic, or dabbing an alum block directly on it to stop the bleeding.

No idea what to suggest as I've not tried it. Read the aftershave reviews, maybe and see what looks good to you.

I haven't had this kind of problem with the NB gel, either, but then I rarely get cuts. If I were having that problem, my bigger concern would be why I have weepers in the first place. No product can exacerbate cuts that don't exist.

To clarify, I'm talking about small nicks - ones that are normally closed after my cold water splash but before applying an AS. They appear after the ASG is applied. This doesn't happen with Nivea, Ogallala, SCS BR, or C&E Nomad. Only with the Nancy Boy. It's most peculiar.

Paul -

I know exactly what you are talking about. I've seen the same happen to me with some balms or gels that contain alcohol, such as the Clinique Post-Shave Beard Control. I think it's the alcohol that causes this effect to some of us.

And the small nicks are not always a matter of technique, it can be a slightly ingrown hair or a minuscule zit or inflammation, or just a more sensitive area on my neck where the hair grows in all directions and there's no such a thing as WTG/ATG there.

I have the NB Signature gel and I haven't tried it yet because it contains alcohol (I didn't pay attention when I bought it), but I will one day. The NB Replenishing gel does not contain alcohol, I have used it without problems but I'm not a big fan of the cucumber scent.
