NAME your dusty razors list. . .

Hi Gents: I hope all is well with you & your families. Name your dusty razors list. In other words the razors, that you have not used in over 30 days. My dusty razors list: EJ89L, 2011 Muhle R41, FaTip, 1974 Gillette Super Speed.

I started my wet shaving journey on April 2012. The 1974 Gillette Super Speed was my very 1st razor that began my DE journey that I purchased from the bay. The EJ89L was my very 1st modern day razor. The FaTip is my favorite OC razor. The R41 gives me super close shaves but leaves me with some serious razor burn.

So... how 'bout you? Do you have a dusty razor list? If so. . . what's your story?

Uh, I don't wanna!! Then I'll have to admit how many razors I have that I don't use! Lets see, a fatboy, a slim, a flare, red, blue, tv special and black handle flare, couple of techs, a knack, a 2011 R41, a Fatip, couple of goodwills, a Senator, several SE razors.........

Of my fourteen razors, I use half of them regularly. The ones that get used infrequently are a Parker 65R, and several Gillettes: a Diplomat, Tuckaway, Slim Adjustable, a New Standard and a Ball-end Tech (which resides in a Florida condo). Last week, I pulled out all but the Tuckaway, so aside from it and the Tech, I've used them all so far in February.

i sold off most of mine since finding the Weber DLCs and the Progress. Most of the ones i don't use are being saved for my 12-year-old boy, so it is not like they are collecting dust. Hee hee.
If it weren't for him, they would be all gone and i would only have ten. Hee hee.

I have more than I want to admit (visit my wiki if interested), and have only used my no-name open comb bakelite slant in the last 30 days. This is mostly due to moving, so I've been in desert island mode.

I basically use three razors: Fatip/Premax, Weber DLC, and the Mühle 2011 R41 -- all with Weber handles. It follows -- with a logic that is both inexorable and sad -- that all of my other razors are gathering dust. My Old Types, Gibbs French Army razor, NY Shaving Co. Mariner, Merkur 45 Bakelite, and my SEs -- all are dusty. Of those, the ones I miss the most are the OCMMs. I really ought to make an effort to get them back into the rotation.

I sold or PIF'ed everything I don't love. But all my razors will be collecting dust while I figure out straights. So I guess my list is: 37c, DE89, FatBoy, 38c, Tradere SB. Yep that's it. All the rest are gone. RAD ended with these 5 razors. :thumbup1:

EDIT: Mel, great idea for a thread. I really like the idea my friend.

Gem Micromatic OC, 1912.

Fatboy would have made the list until last weekend when I took it out for the first time in a few months.

Just took delivery of R41 Grande. Now blathering on wide-eyed about how amazing a razor it is. I think the above are destined for a PIF or to remain consigned to the back of the shelf for a lot longer.

My Cadet TTO is pretty dusty...will likely PIF it soon. My R41 get used very little as well. Others are all in a pretty solid rotation.

Since the Aristocrat showed up it's been just that, Gillette New Standard and the Fatip. My Super speed collection, blue tips, reds, adjustable Merks & Gillettes, Techs all sit there looking at me shouting "when!"

Of the nearly 40 DE razors I have, off of the top of my head:

Gillette Red Tip
Gillette Blue Tip
Gillette Flare Tip (50's)
Gillette Flare Tip (58 TV Special)
Gillette Flare Tip (Early 60's)
Gillette Flare Tip (Mid 60's)
Gillette Flare Tip (Black handle)
Gillette Black Tip
Gillette 40's style NDC
Gillette New Improved OC Tuckaway
Gillette New Short OC Big Boy Deluxe
Otto Roth New Long OC (off being replated)
Gillette Canadian Fat Handle Tech (off being replated)
Gillette British Aluminum Ball end Tech
Gillette Ball end Tech
Gillette ABC Pocket Edition Old Type OC
Muhle R41
Gillette Fatboy
Gillette Slim
Gillette Super Adjustable (long handle)
Gillette President

Alot of old vintage Gillettes on the list.... especially Super Speeds and TTO Adjustables. The biggest reason these are getting neglected is because I've been trying out many of the modern stainless steel razors and open combs lately with my UFO Kaiser handles. I still love all the dusty ones.... just don't have time for them this past month.
