NAME one or two razors that you wanted to love but . . .

Hi Gents: Hope all is well with you & your families. Name one, two, or three (or more) razors that you wanted to love but it didn't love you. So far. . . I wanted to love the 2011 Muhle R41 but it did not love me. Matter of fact, it kept biting me like an angry shark and caused serious razor burn. I had a super, close shave but I paid for it.:mad3:

So. . . how 'bout you? I know I'm not the only one. What razor or razors that you wanted to love but it did not love you?

WARHAWK

I wanted to love the Merkur Vision. I think it's a beautiful razor and I love the size but that bad boy just never felt right in my hand. As much as I wanted to like it I just never did.

I wanted to love my Muhle R89 and my Merkur 1904 open comb. R89 shaved well but irritated my face for some reason, and the Merkur both didn't shave and irritated the heck out of my face simultaneously. Which, when you think about it, is a pretty neat trick (in a bad way).

I want to love the GEM MMOC, but like the R41 experience Warhawk had it gives great results, but it's a rough shave with anything more than two passes.

One more for R89. My face and whisker combination did not like R89. Merkur open comb razors on the other hand, they are nice as long as you do not try to get a BBS. You will surely irritate your face if you try a BBS. Merkur OC razors are not putting the blade close enough for a BBS, so a forced BBS by adding pressure and passes will irritate. I get an irritation free decent shave with just two passes with my 15C (same head as 1904 OC).

I wanted to like the Weishi 9306. It is a solid and heavy copy of the Gillette Superspeed that is very inexpensive, widely available and comes in a number of attractive finishes. Unfortunately, it is so mild as to be effectively useless. I actually think I heard my stubble laugh when I tried to use it, but it was early in the morning and I was drinking the night before.:001_tongu

I, too, tried to start something special with a Merkur 1904 open comb. It looked amazing online. I liked the old-school look, the hexagonal handle, the open comb, it had good reviews... We just didn't get along though. It felt too light, the handle felt too small, it seemed like I would keep making passes over the same area and it just wasn't giving me a good shave. I tried multiple blades and lathers... It just didn't work. I gave it to a friend who kept tearing his face up with whatever razor he was using at the time and he happens to love it so YMMV certainly applies here. Ironically enough, I replaced it with an R89 which two fellow B&B members had rocky relationships with. I already owned and loved the R41 so I figured the R89 would be a winner also. I'm quite pleased with it.

I have a love-hate relationship with my Futur. Gives me EXCELLENT shaves, but it gets so dang slippery I don't really enjoy using it.

I thought that the Merkur 37C Slant was going to change my life and be the answer to all of my shaving needs...no dice! All I can do is hack myself up with that thing.
