saw Cul de Sac recently (one of the few Polanski's I hadn't seen)--reminded me of Harold Pinter mixed with Quentin Tarantino.

Some of my favourite actors of all time - Donald Pleasance, Jack McGowan, Lionel Stander and the wonderful and sadly missed Françoise Dorléac. I can quite see the Pinter connection - Pleasance was marvellous in The Caretaker and has exactly that "noir" mix of powerlessness and undertones of threat that Pinter and Polanski shared.

Good movie, but I thought Life of Brian was funnier.

I go back and forth on which I think funnier, but usually it's Grail with a nod over Brian. But ... I mention it for this thread in particular as a film I don't tire of watching. Key point that ... lots of films I love watching and are on my desert island list but ... big but .... which I like and cannot lie ... I can only watch them once or twice before I need a break.

What great films are referenced here! I could be convinced to include almost all of them on my list. However the OP asked for 10 so here they are (I cheated a bit)...
Godfather (1&2)
The Great Escape
Once Upon a Time in the West
It's a Wonderful Life
The Wizard of OZ
The Razor's Edge (Murray & Power)
Streetcar Named Desire
The Bicycle Thief
East of Eden
On the Waterfront

I feel ok about including Godfather 1&2 as one selection. They could easily be one movie. As for the Razor's Edge, I really couldn't decide.

Tommy? You must be one of those rabid Wholigans (like myself) since your other selections don't come close to that level of weird.

I love movies, but I have to say there are very few I have watched repeatedly, and none I would say I would never tire of. I have probably seen Pulp Fiction more than any other film. It took me at least twice to begin to figure it out. I have seen Godfather I and II more than once in various forms. Apocalypse Now and Alien, the same. I do not think I need to see any of those three again.
