Nail Clippers

My wife is very unforgiving when it comes to nail clippers. I can't tell you how many sets I owned before we got married, and after, all but one have survived. What she does with them is beyond me, but the lone pair that have made it since the day of shackelment have to be the worst of the lot. I am in the market for a good pair of clippers I can buy to hide from her. What do you guys use?

I do find it hard to beleave that as opinionated as we all are about our razors and what we like we don't have an opinion about this...

You must have Badger & Blade confused with Clipper & File forums...

:tongue_sm

I'd suggest just keep buying the cheap $2.95 models, and let her have at it.

I use a pair of concord Large Executive Clippers. They are built in Japan in the province where the Samurai swords have been made for centuries. Very well built and robust. I don't think your wife can harm these.

Forgot to tell you I got mine at the KnifeCenter.com for around 25 dollars for a set of two with a leather case.

I got to try out a bunch when i worked at a CVS. The best by far were Revlon. They're only slightly more expensive than the generic cheapies, but the quality level is much higher.

You'll probably only find them in the cosmetics/nail polish section and not in with other mens grooming.

I kind of thought that a nail clipper is a nail clipper. Some are cheaper metal though. I've used a few pairs of dollar store kind of made in China nail clippers, and some of them, after not even that long, you are pressing down and the metal just breaks outright.

I think I bought a pair of Revlon brand clippers from shoppers drug mart and they cost 5 or 6 dollars, but they'll probably last.

I don't even own toenail clippers, I've never really understood what the need is for such big clippers. I know they say you should cut your toe nails straight across, but I've always since I can remember, cut them roundly and have never had any ingrown or whatnot.

For the occasional very stubborn toenail, I'll break out the Erem flush-cut electronics clippers. Seriously. I usually use them to clip leads off resistors and capacitors, cut wire and other small tasks. Very precise, they cut nails like butter and they're practically indestructible. They cut straight across, but it's easy to then file the nail to shape.

I don't know if they'd make your wife cringe, but they're nicely finished and have attractive blue soft-grip handles. She won't break them, either. You could back over them in the car and they'd probably be fine.

I use the zwilling j.a. henckels nail clipper, it's a very slim design and comes with a small leather slip case. Actually Zwilling has quite a few nice hygiene tools. I have the nose/ear hair trimmer from them as well. They are rather expensive but with items like that I prefer quality.

Does she lose them or harm them? I like the ones from Revlon and have 3 pairs hidden in various locations. One upstairs, one down, and one in my dopp kit.

I remember a friend of mine in high school, he'd cut his fingernails with scissors, and I don't know why but the thought of the feeling of that just kind of gives me a shiver like fingernails on the chalk board - pun intended.

Kai (made in Japan), Revlon, GEM are all good brands that have served us well. You will remember poor quality longer than low/cheap price.

The Feather ones are awesome. I think they're called PaRaDa or something and come in 3 sizes. :thumbup1:

I've got two of thesse, and they really ARE as well-made as all other Feather products. The cut is so clean that I really don't need to file my nails after using them. I have the small one for my hands and the medium one for toenails. Well worth the cash outlay - the last clippers you will ever need. I got mine from ClassicShaving.com

I honestly hate the feel of the cheap clipper. We have a pair of Trim brand clippers right now and you get the double click cut with them, i.e. you cut the nail then the blades bypass causeing that second click... I used to have a pair of LaCross cutters that seemed to be great, were cheap-o's but worked really well. I guess I'd like to have something that feels substantual in the hand cuts precisly and is, above all, mine to use exclusivly.

Looses them more the harm.
