Mystic Waters has landed. First test lather pics

My soap arrived today so I gave it a quick test lather. I received the Orange Vanilla and the Coconut Lime Verbena. I used a Vulfix 2233S, not exactly a brush known for backbone. The brush loaded easily and I got tons of rich, creamy lather with lots of substance. Spreading the lather on my hand confirms this lather was very rich and should provide excellent cushion and glide. I can't wait to shave with it tomorrow. I have to admit this is one of the easier lathering soaps I've tried. Here's some pics for your enjoyment. I'll update after I've had a shave in the morning. Did I mention, the soap smells really nice. I even got a sample of the Lime soap to try. Way to go Michelle!

I got a tub of the LotV off the BST recently, you are having much better luck with lathering it than I am. I am experimenting with loading more and more, but even with my abysmal lather I am still getting great shaves and my skin feels amazing! The LotV scent is a bit cloying for my tastes though so I'll probably be looking to trade it for some lime on the BST soon. This stuff is just too good for me to give up on.

Nice job, Foyle!

I used her Lime soap this morning. My favorite of all the soaps I've ever tried. Really nice.

Let us know how the shave goes.

Good stuff Foyle. My other soaps are jealous of my MW Lavender because it is pretty much the only soap I have used since I got it about 3 weeks ago. Such a great soap, lathers easily with any of my brushes, but really likes my Thater. And to top it off, the lavender is my favorite scent of any product in my den.

Michelle make fantastic soaps. Once you try them, you're hooked. You should try her Bay Rum; incredibly addicting!:001_tt1:

Which brush are you using? I have the worst lather from the denser badger brushes. I have better luck with less dense brushes (like my 2233S) and I recall having fantastic results on soaps with boars. I've got a 1305 due to arrive tomorrow that I can't wait to try on this soap.

Well, I had my first shave with it this morning. I chose the Orange Vanilla. The scent was nice and stayed noticeable through the whole shave without being over powering. I bowl lathered and the lather for the first pass came out a little foamy. I also loaded the brush a little too wet. I decided that there was no point in having a less-than shave so I rinsed out all the lather and started over. I decided to face lather the second and third passes and the lather was much better. It was more dense than with the bowl. I've always had better results face lathering soaps anyhow. Cushion and glide are excellent with this soap. I didn't experience the amazing post shave face feel than many others report. If anything it's like most other soaps for me: neutral, not drying or moisturizing and an ASB as needed to finish things off nicely. The only soap I've ever used that I thought I could skip the ASB with was Cella.

As I side note, I've also always had better lather on soaps with boar brushes so I'm eager for my 1305 to show up. It's supposed to arrive today but there are no scans through our local USPS hub as of yet so we'll see if it shows up today or tomorrow.
Definitely, the trick to getting the best lather from this soap is to use a dry brush, shake and even squeeze all the water out and load until you've got a nice thick paste built up on the brush. Again, I used my no-bakcbone Vulfix and had no trouble loading. As you can see from this pic, after two passes there is easily enough lather left in the brush for two more passes.

UPDATE:

A little while after my shave and I'm noticing my face feels a little dry and tight. This soap seems to be slightly drying on my skin. I'll give it another shave or two to see how it agrees with my skin.

Yeah, I was a little surprised by that too. I don't think I over shaved but the first pass with the more foamy lather may have been the culprit. We'll try again tomorrow and see how it goes.

I completely agree, I had my first shave with her Lime this morning. I'm looking forward to getting some of her other scents to try. I really like the Lime!
