Mystic Water Rose/Lemon Testing Thread

Good Afternoon Gents,

I was elated to find three nicely packaged variations on a Rose/Lemon soap in my mailbox today. Once again, Michelle has proven to be an awesome vendor and someone who is passionately involved with the B&B community.

Each of the three samples was scented differently. I lathered up my favorite scented soap from the bunch just now, and I'm here to share some thoughts and some pics.

One note: As far as I know, I'm not going to mention which (numbered) sample this came from, as I don't want to skew the results from any of the other dozen testers...

This sample was really something incredible... the balance in the unlathered soap was tilted slightly toward lemon, but when lathered up the scent became pretty special. I liken it to enjoying a pink lemonade near a rosebush.
(Not a whole garden in your face type of TOBS scent, but a more sophisticated and much more enjoyable scent IMHO).

Here are some pics of my Tulip 3 2-band loaded, then lathered up and rearing to go...

Overall impressions are that this particular sample gets two thumbs way up
It had all of the performance and efficacy that we've come to know and love from Michelle's Mystic Water soap, but that scent.... ohhhh that scent. My wife walked into the bathroom to mock me for having my camera in there... stopped in her tracks and said "WHEN AND WHERE CAN WE BUY MORE OF THAT?". It really was something incredible.

Wow. That looks AWESOME.

I'm having a hard time imagining lemon plus rose as a scent, but apparently it must work pretty well if even your wife liked it.

I'm here to tell you Randall, I really thought it had potential of being "meh" based on each artisan's interpretation... I'm so glad I was able to experience this because it really is that incredible.

Nice looking lather. Typical of mystic water soap. I can't wait to try my samples. The lemon rose combination is fantastic!

As a fellow tester, I have a hunch I know which sample you're talking about. I initially get a snoot-full of lemon, but the rose shines through brilliantly.

Inspired by 7 O Menthol, I just spent a few minutes in the bathroom whipping up some test lather as well using my Fat River handle with TGN finest 2 band. I believe I chose a different sample than he did; the one that smelled best to me. In my opinion, it is the perfect blend. Neither scent outshines the other, and they pair fantastically. Stuffing my face into the bag like a horse feeding, I experience a wonderful balance of rose and lemon, each tickling the nostrils simultaneously. When lathered, the scent remains the same and is endlessly pleasing.

Here are a pair of shots:

Upon returning to my computer, my hands still smell like the lather (had to play with it for a few seconds after all). However, I notice the rose is much more pronounced than the lemon now. Something to keep in mind as I try the others, and ultimately decide which blend I like best overall.

(I'll be putting all this into a word document to e-mail to Michelle. Not sure she wants an essay, but that may be the end result)

Seizure, that's the most visually appealing brush handle I've ever laid eyes on... where can it be found for purchase?

And thanks for the comment about the pics... I usually shoot my den pics on f/1.8 and THE ENTIRE background is too blurry to be discernable... I bumped tonight's shots up to f/2.0 so I didn't risk losing any detail in that delectable lather.

i lathered all 3 samples tonight. i used each one for a single pass. i have to say i am really impressed with these samples. my wife loves them too. i have already formed an opinion on which one i like best. #2. but my wife likes #1 the best. i really like them all and any of the 3 would have a spot in my permanent rotation. Mystic water just flat out performs! and these new scents are amazing.

Sweet looking lather pics, guys. Thanks for updating us on this new scent. Too bad my computer doesn't come equipped with smell-o-vision, 'cause I'd really like to know what that lather smells like right about now.

First impression: Wow

The package came in the office and the ladies up front went nuts over it. I wasn't sure if I was going to get it back or not. The consensus of 10 Cajun ladies is #2 smells best in the bag. Although, one lady tried to take bag #1.

The first impression is that all three are very pleasing in the bag. Nothing too far to the right or left. "Clean" "Soap like" "Nice" "Bright" were words used. As I suspected, this is going to be the kind of soap that makes you look forward to a shave very early. This soap gives me the same experience I had the first time I opened a pot of English lime cream, ie "wow, never smelled that before, can't wait to shave with it."

So if you still prefer number two, in what way has your opinion changed?
My opinions of the other two samples. I originally thought that one was more lemony and I had them backwards. I guess I forgot to add that part, sorry. Sometimes my thoughts and my posts are in different worlds

Wow, now I have to get some Mystic Water soaps. Those lathers look amazing.

They really do produce some great lather!

I've been able to make some final decisions about my samples...
Sample #3 - Heavenly and my favorite by far. Unlathered, lathered up, filling the bathroom with scent - it's all good with #3
Sample#2 - This one was fine but seemed too lightly scented for my personal tastes. One thing I really love about Michelle's soaps is that the usually pack a nice wallop of scent... this one not so much.
Sample #1 - I consider sample #1 far too sweet and cloying. This is what drove me away from straight one note rose scents in the first place.

I enjoyed #2 the most. They all performed the same (fantastic), but #2, to my nose, had the right balance of both rose and lemon.
