Mystery Scotch Whiskey :

So my father-in-law is a postman, and he received this as a Christmas gift from someone on one of his routes about 15 years ago. He's not a drinker and so never touched the stuff. And while I'm not a big scotch whiskey fan, my brother is and he's been looking to get me to "join him on the darkside."

I have looked this bottle up and down google, and tried to find out more information on it. I'd love to drink it, but I don't want to drink it if it's worth something, or rare, or if it would be better not to drink it...

So, I need help figuring out more about this scotch whiskey... I know nothing, I can't find it anywhere, I think the company went under a long time ago... That's about all I've got. Anyone know more? Let me know.

Bell's is still very much in business
http://www.bells.co.uk/
The 'Afore ye Go' slogan dates from 1925
The bottle shape is typical of pre-1960's. I've never see one with the town-crier label.
As to value, don't know, Is the paper seal on the cap intact? that would have an impact on value.

Does it say anything about the vintage or when it was bottled on the label? I you can't find anything I would either write or email Bell's and see if they can help out.

To be honest I'm not that familiar with the brand so just my 2 cents. I did see that they are still business so hopefully they keep some sort of archive.

Ok, well I thought I'd make a shameless bump and see if anyone else knows anything about this bottle. :) If this is against the rules, please feel free to let me know. :)

The only feedback I got is 'it's old'. And a comment that it must be a huge bottle - it's marked 4.5 quarts, which would be something like 4.25L (unless we're talking proper quarts, in which case it would be about 5.1L)
