What's new

My weekend find

Hello all, I'm fairly new to straight razors, but after I bought a whipped dog straight from larry a while back ago, I new the AD would soon follow... Well it did, but luckily it was all for a good price, or so I think.

Anyways.. here's the loot.

From left to right.
1) Geneva cutlery Co, Geneva, NY, USA
2) Dubl Duck Special #1, Pearl duck
3) J.A. Henckels twin works #66. (On the opposite side of the tang it says John Wanamaker. Anybody know the significance of this?)

Not too bad....I really like the blade style of the Henckels. The chips in the edge should hone out fairly easily. The Duble Duck does have it's issues, but it can be made to shave nicely again. I would love to work on the blade(including unpinning and repinning) for you just for the cost of postage. Send me a PM if interested. I used to live in Moss Point Mississippi by the way :biggrin1:

The Duck will probably always show a few scars from its previous life but they're all good finds especially the Henckels. Nice job!

I wouldn't bother with the duck myself. Ducks grinds tend to be pretty thin, and that much rust, you're gonna spend some time on the buffer. Not saying there's no way you'll get it shave ready. But you're gonna lose an eighth of depth minimum, and the remaining blade will be buffed pretty thin. After a lot of work you might have a rough looking 4/8" Duck with a lot of honewear.

Other two don't look like they're even going to take much work. Once you get the chips out of the henk and the bevel reset, it'll be smooth sailing.
