On a recent travel to the city of Braga, in northern Portugal, I went to an old drugstore and look what I found:
It's a Semogue 1993 boar brush. Just loved the beautiful barrel-shaped wooden handle.
I believe that they are not made anymore, but I may be wrong.
My first shaving brush, many years ago, had an handle shaped exactly like that, like a barrel, but with a darker wood and synthetic bristles. I still have that first shaving brush, but it is very damaged (it is more than 25 years old, and belonged to my father before he gave it to me).
As for the new acquisition, it may not be the best brush in the world, but the bristle knot feels nice and soft. After the break-in period, I'm sure it will be even nicer and softer. And for me, this brush is a travel to the past and to the time of my very first shaves. And it cost me only 4,00.
