Well, I was heading down to Boston to stay with a family friend for the Christmas holidays. So I decided to stop by some well famed stores (at least in B&B). My first stop was Colonial Drug. The store was just as I imagined, a step back into the past. I planned on purchasing a new brush and was looking specifically for an open combed razor. Unfortunately, the brushes were all out of my price range (such as real horn and 14k gold rim for $450) and there were no open combed razors The clerk who I assume was the owner was not very friendly, but that was probably because he had to work on Christmas Eve. The store itself is really nice. The only downfall is that since it's a specialty shop, they may order something only once or be out of stock for weeks on end. I also noticed their considerable markup. A bowl of TOBS ranges from $13-15 online. In Colonial Drug it was $20. However, it is well worth the added money as experiencing it instore is a completely different experience. I purchased: a pack of Shark Blades for $4.50. A refill puck of Plisson Shave Soap for $23. A container of Eucryl toothpowder for $8.75 and a tube of Old Spice Fresh Lime Scent for $6.75. While I was in the area I decided I might as well visit leavitt and pierce. Their shave selection was rather small and they had no good brushes or razors. While I somehow managed to hold on to my money, my dad bought himself a puck of soap for $9. Forgot the brand Does anyone else have any positive experiences with any of these stores? And would you suggest any other stores in the area?
