My Tradere OC Has Arrived and It Sure Does Not Disappoint!

Got my Tradere OC in the mail today from Phil at bullgoose. Awesome service from that guy considering I ordered the razor Friday and it was sitting in my mail box on Monday! Anyway, back to the matter at hand.....talking about how awesome this razor is!

I will start out by saying this is the second open comb razor I have used and literaly the second time I have shaved with an open comb razor. I just got a Gillette NEW from a generous member and only got to use it once before this showed up. And the Gillette NEW I found to be not much different than my Muhle R89.

First impressions of the razor, I would have to say just WOW! I know a lot of people have complimented this razor over and over for craftsmanship, but it is truly deserved. The fit and finish are outstanding. I do not have many razors to compare it to, but I can't imagine anything else available being built like this. The thing that really surprised me is the weight. It probably weighs twice what my R89 does, but it is very well balanced.

I just shaved with it for the first time about 15 minutes ago and my gear consisted of the goods below:

Tradere OC, Astra SP blade, Martin de Candre and Proraso AS

Result was pretty dang good considering it was my second shave with an OC razor. Went my normal 2 passes (WTG and XTG/ATG combonation) with a little touch up. I can tell it will take a few shaves to feel fully comfortable wielding it. The handle is longer than anything I have used so it took some adjustments to get some spots on my face, but overall the shave was great. Only had one little weeper and some minor irritation and I am sure it was due to user error. It is more aggressive than my R89, but I don't see it being too aggressive. I will say I was probably overly careful using as little pressure as possible, but I still got a great shave in two passes.

Overall, I am really impressed and can see my other razors likely collecting a lot of dust in the future. The best way I can describe this razor: Commercial Grade Shaving Tool

It is built so solid and is all business. To top it off, it is really a great looking razor too. I was hesitant to order it due to the handle being a slightly different finish than the head, but the combo is perfect in person. Thanks again to Phil at bullgoose for great service as usual and a HUGE thanks to Tradere Razor for making this great razor at such a great price. Worth every penny!

The R89 is a great razor, and it says a lot that you are as blown away as you are with the Tradere after owning an R89.
I've had mine for over a month and I'm still impressed with it every time I pick it up. Now you have to save some bucks so you can get the safety bar head in September and a slant by year's end. Congrats on your purchase.

I agree that the R89 is a great razor. It has served me well and there really wasn't anything wrong with it. I just wanted to try an open comb and couldn't resist the looks of this one. I am sucker for machined/milled toys. I wish I had a CAD machine, but I don't have a couple hundred grand laying around. Luckily the guys at Tradere made this to tide over my RAD until thier straight bar and slant come out.

I used mine this morning. Still one of my favorites. And it is the best looking modern razor I own. I ordered the handle as soon as they came out and got the head when they were introduced. I used the handle on my R41 before my head arrived. I love the handle. I think it would improve any head you put on it. Great write up.

I also just received a Tradere OC today. It is breath taking. The craftsmanship is unlike any other razor that I have seen, and I have seen a good number. The weight between the head and handle are great. I was worried about the matte finish of the handle but it really does compliment the glossy finish to the razor head. I'm starting to think that vintage razors aren't worth it when you can have a beauty like this. I'll be shaving with it tomorrow.

On a side note, I'll definitely be picking up the closed comb and slant Tradere's when they come out.

I gotta get one of those razors, it's the best looking Stainless Steel razors IMHO.

You should get it sooner rather than later. It sounds like the cost to machine these razors was higher than expected. Therefore, the next batch of Tradere razors will cost more than the current price. So whatever is left at Bull Goose or West Coast for $150 is it. After that, if you want a Tradere OC, it will be >$150.

This is true my friends. Phil said he had a few left, might want to pull the trigger soon. I promise you will not regret it.
