My take on Van Der Hagen Luxury soaps.

Well since I got my two new mugs from Dirty Bird pottery I had to fill them up. Did it with the Luxury Scented & Unscented soaps from Van Der Hagen.
Glad I did! They are a step above their regular soaps which are quite good in their own right. The Scented has only a slight scent to it which was a combination of cucumber and plain bar soap. It was not overpowering at all. As for the Unscented, it is a clear soap and as the name says unscented.

As a face latherer I was very happy with the results. Thick rich lather and my face felt moisturized after the shave.
Got to love that glycerin.

These VDH Luxury soaps are IMHO winners in both the price and performance category.

If you're looking for a glycerin base soap either one of these VDH Luxury soaps may help end your search.

Agreed. Great performers and good scent. Goes to show that if a person really wanted to save money DE shaving it is entirely possible.

I agree. The scent of the scented version is quite nice. It is a good soap at any price, and that it costs $5 makes a great soap in my book.

From pictures of the kit I have seen, the kit at Target has a boar brush in it, while the kit sold elsewhere has a pure badger brush. So while it is cheaper at Target, the quality is not the same as the kit sold elsewhere.

I used the unscented soap for a while, but eventually gave it to a friend that was just starting out along with some other soaps.

My wife bought me the luxury kit with the badger brush from amazon. Very happy. Would def recommend to anyone starting out and looking to give soap a try.

The VDH Luxury is my main goto soap still. Sometimes I'll add a half pump of KMF into the bowl... pretty amazing combo. I have the unscented as well, which I've melted down in a double boiler, added scent essential oil to, and poured it into an old (well cleaned) deordorant twist up. Bingo, VDH shave stick, travel style, in whatever scent you want to make. Used it with the VDH badger brush, and was truly amazed at the volume and quality of the lather for what is essentially $15 in soap and brush, all said and done.

I got their regular stuff at the local Rite Aid and have been very happy. Will have to try the "upgrade."

I like all the VDH soaps also. Ive purchased more expensive soaps but cant say they are any better as far as slickness and moisturizing ability.
