What's new

My Slant sliced a mole off my face!!

Ever had that happen to you? In all my years of shaving, I have never had a problem with a small, flat mole on my cheek. A few days ago, I was in a hurry and somewhat inattentive when the Slant attacked!!! No pain, no sensation of anything, but man, did i bleed like a stuck hog.

Actually, I was somewhat pleased the Slant took care of this mole - otherwise, it's removal would have required a doctor visit.

Hmmmm. Now what other unnecessary body parts can I remove?

Those things bleed like nobody's business! I cut a mole one time , didn't shave it off, just nicked it, and it bled for hours. That's before I knew what styptic was. How'd you stop the bleeding? I'll bet it hurt like heck if you styptic penned it.

Funny, I don't even have a styptic, but maybe I should get one. Cold water and some witch hazel seemed to do the trick, though the area was swollen and red for about a week.

For those of you who are fishermen, the slime found on a catfish's body is great at stopping bleeding. My grandfather told me this 40 years ago and I thought he was kidding. Then I got finned when I was cleaning a blue cat and we put some slime on the wound - worked like a charm!

Out of curiosity... What blade did you have in the slant? A Feather?

A fresh Derby. I have some Feathers, but I'm a bit chicken about using one in the blood-letting Slant. Fantastic in my SS and Tech though!

The Slant is an amazing razor, but it does demand full attention and respect. I wouldn't want to use it if I had to get up for an early morning and shaky hands from a night out on the town. :w00t:

Not too surprising given the fact that had you gone to a dermatologist to have a small mole removed, the tool they often use is.......you guessed it......a DE blade.

No moles on my face, but I did find a pimple I didn't know about!

Sliced it off slick as a whistle!

Just great!!! Now I gotta keep a dead fish under the sink...as if we didn't have enough AD's already.

Not sure that particular AD will be popular...... other half walks in and crinkles nose, "what is that horrible smell?", "nothing dear, just my DFAD again":lol:

I did the same thing last week. It's a very small mole you can't even see, really. I have cut it before with my HD, but this time the Slant took a GOOD chunk out of it. Styptic, cold water, and finally two small band-aids took care of it.

I'm not sure but I think they come back. My sis had a very prominent mole on her nose and tried self-removal when she was young. Disaster! Blood everywhere. And...it came back.

But it did convince the folks that she was in earnest that she wanted it gone (my dad has one in the same exact place--it was their trademark.)

To sum up the story, she did get it removed but has said she regreted it as her trademark is now gone.

Edit: maybe this will work--perhaps the reason hers didn't is because it was so prominent that she didn't get it all

haha, this thread made me laugh. I'm guilty of having sliced a portion of my mole off and yes, the little buggers bleed like there's no tomorrow. my mole is on my upper lip. most of the time I don't have problems but on occasion i'll take a little off the top.

i do have a mole on my jawline area that is not small enough to take off with a DE more than likely. not had issues with it with my slant or other DE but my straight has caught it a few times and it bleeds for a good 15 minutes. i did at one point have a mole get scraped off during a soccer game, the entire thing was gone and it took over an hour for the bleeding to stop. i was kinda glad it was gone actually but it just grew right back and later had to have it surgically remove because i had damaged it and it grew back perfectly.

for any wondering it was not cancerous as the doc thought it might have been just persistent.
