A little background before I get to current saving journey. This journal is mostly to remind myself of what I'm doing and what worked and what didn't work for me personally. If I don't put it here I will forget it. Prior to double edge I was using a Schick 5-blade with a can of gel shaving cream. Not really changing the cartridge until about a month in, shaving daily. I was having some ingrown hairs, some iritation, not smooth shaving with lots of pulling.
I started off Jan 2021 with a dollar store turn to open razor with some Astra SP blades. That was much easier glide but that razor was super light and extremely aggressive, I was nicking myself a lot even when going slow I was using still the can of shave gel. I won a PIF from @SgtCrppls if I hadn't I don't know if I would have kept at it much longer. It was an Edwin Jagger 89 with some blade samples. In my neck of the woods the only de style soaps were creamo and van der hagen shave soap so I started using that. Both of those 3 combined made a huge difference.
Before we skip forward to present day journaling I found that I have sensitive skin and coarse hair, bad combination. My employee finds lots of DE razors and buys them for me. So I'm stockpiling razors. I need a better shave brush. I should consider a bigger lather bowl. The sharper the blade the better, most blades wear out after 3 uses. My face and I don't have the patience to ' break in a blade' where it gets sharper after the 1st cut. I try not to push my luck I only have 1 face.
