What's new

My research on travel cases for shaving supplies.

  • Razors don't require travel cases, but they can benefit from cases. Amazon.com has many travel cases for various types of razors.
  • For shaving brushes, there are cylindrical plastic travel cases on amazon.com
  • For shaving soaps, I can consider an empty plastic container for shaving cream or a tin can.
  • A shaving stick can go in a vinyl zipper bag or a cylindrical plastic travel case which is usually used for shaving brushes.
  • Shaving mugs and shaving bowls are not very portable unless they are made of silicone.
So, I'd prefer a shaving stick or loading a shaving soap from a travel container and lathering on my face during travel.

I usually take the handle off a 3-piece razor so it won't get broken off when my bag gets thrown around. My shaving kit has a good place to tuck the handle and baseplate/top-cap away so they won't get banged around too much. Never felt like I needed a case but I do have a Merkur 4-piece travel razor with a case that I travel with sometimes.

Smaller synthetic brushes are nice because you don't have to worry too much about a damp brush in your kit. Never worried too much about a case for my brush and never had any issues.

Shave sticks are great for travel. I have the container from an LEA stick that I just refill with Palmolive or Wilkinson Sword sticks since I like them more than LEA but the LEA container is great.

I normally face lather so don't feel the need to bring a mug or bowl. In a pinch I can get a good enough lather with a shave stick and my hands, so if my brush were to fall apart/get broken I could even get by without it for a couple days if I needed to.

Is that suitable for a shaving soap?
It's for a 3-piece razor:

Here is a vintage Colgate shaving stick container:

My travel kit is compact and it fits in my Eagle Creek toilet bag:
Lord L6 razor in a WCS leather razor case.
La Toja shave stick (comes in a plastic case).
Simpsons Wee Scot in a ‘pill case’ from my local pharmacy.
Small plastic bottle of AS.

Nothing fancy but it works great!!

My travel tin, inspired by limited space on long trips on my Harley. Glued a magnet on lid to hold fresh blades. Seriously an act of futility, never shave on trips.
