What's new

My quest for a shaving robe.

When I was a kid, I received a bathrobe as a Christmas gift. It was actually called "The Little Shaver", if I remember right. This robe was made of terry cloth and was short, coming down to mid-thigh or thereabouts. It was very comfortable and light in weight due to the abbreviated length. I loved it. Been trying to find something like it lately but not having any luck. I hate the long robes. Anybody have any ideas?

A Pair of scissors? I just had to cut off my collar... when I looked left or right the collar would rub off any and all shaving cream, it had to go!!

I dunno...kinda funky idea for me, I shave in the buff or in boxers haha. Wet shaving is wet I find at times so...I spare my duds some wetness and dry off after the storm.

Question though...is this shaving robe thing (shirt too) a nostalgic thing? Meaning harkening back to the old day's? If so I'll pass any thought of it, reason being is because I guess I find a Shaving Wardrobe a bit over kill imho but hey if you like that sort of thing then cool lol.

No not really a nostalgia thing. In the winter it's a little colder in my house than I'd like, so that's when I would wear a robe. Most of the time I shave in the buff.

I have been known to use a scrub top on occasion when it is too cold to go "au naturale"

It works great as there is no collar

Well...now that you put it that way, guess it is a good idea if you got a chilly house. Mine gets that way too, guess I'm just used to it as I keep the bath room door shut and trap in the heat for the shave. I ever get a need s'pose I might check into that. Thanks for clarifying things, I didn't know if it was just a style thing or what also heard of shaving shirts too guess I never really looked into all that. :)

You could buy the one that is too long and have it altered, maybe having them embroider your initial on the left chest.

If we got enough interest we could get a group buy going on. We could have different lengths like, The Daisy Duke, The Gardner and Bird Legs. We could have battles with other forums with pictures of us shaving in our bathroom, with our robes on, chest rug popping out, and 45 different kinds of aftershave in the background.

LOL, don't take me serious. Just get it altered, and rock it like a boss.:001_tt2:

The wool ones from Pendelton Woolen Mills come in sizes, so you can buy one that actually fits. I love mine but I don't shave in it. The collar is in the way, and I don't want shaving soap all over it.

I’m stumped
Not with a straight, I hope . . . unless you're some kind of daredevil. :scared:
shaving with a straight in your birthday suit is not for the timid. I'm not scared !

OP I got myself a robe for winter and gave up on it after a few shaves. The colar was a pain and water would run down the sleeves when splashing water on my face.
a tee shirt or a wife beater may be another option for you to concider.

In the cooler months I just go shirtless meaning I put my boxers, jeans and socks on. I think it's much easier I'd never shave in the nude only in boxers in the hotter months.

I shave topless, I don't want water and/or lather dripping all over whatever I'm wearing and being a face latherer, there is some natural splatter.

one time when the power was out and it was really cold, I shaved with a t-shirt for warmth, but bare chested works better for me otherwise . . . as an aside, it is not easy to shave with no power (had to heat water on the stove and move a mirror over to a window with the most sunlight . . . old-old-school style)
