The Filly Strop is an awesome piece of kit for a great price. However I feel it has a small but understandable design issue:
It's width and mounting point are not harmonious. It's a 2 inch strop with a single anchoring point. Since it's 2 inches, you need to use an X stroke. However since it's only held at the center point of the strop, it twists the further away from your hand you are (see image #2).
To me, this makes stropping a little tricky. Maybe only I had this problem. If it was 3 inches wide, no big deal, straight up you go, even pressure across and no twist.
So since I couldn't make it wider, I took what I had laying around and made it anchor at three points.
One half of a door hinge. Kept a bag of them my buddy was throwing away since...never know. Remove the leather lace completely from the strop. Take the leather lace feed it through the center sleeve of the hinge. Line it up so you have half on one side and half on the other. Bring it around the front sides of the strop, to the back andthrough the hole in the strop (from the back to the front), tuck it under itself, through the outer sleeves (one each way), around the back and under itself again. pull it tight, tight, tight, tie a good knot. (see images #3 and #4).
And you'll have almost zero pitch!
Pros: Sturdy, shiny mounting.
Cons: You'll have to untie it to reach the napped side - although considering how often I use that side, I find it a small inconvenience.
There you go! Hope that helps someone else.
*edited title because it felt like I was picking on the Filly, when in fact any 2" strop with a central pivot would roll like I described*
