What's new

My poor, poor Rudy Vey brush!

As I was taking a shower tonight I heard a clank from the sink area. Bear in mind I'm alone and nowhere near the scene in question. When I got out of the shower this is what I saw:

Yup, that's my newish B&B 2012 LE brush that I've been using since I received it this summer. :scared: Never once dropped it or anything. Strange......

Some autopsy photos of the crime (apologies for the quick snapshots btw):

I can only surmise it grew jealous of my brush seen next to it that I used last night and committed suicide.

That's odd. I've never seen the knot on a new brush fall out like that before. Fortunately, it's an easy fix. Just get some 5 minute epoxy and glue that sucker back in. It'll be good as new, and you can dub it Lazarus.

Yeah, I am surprised that the knot came out as easily as that?! Rudy makes nice handles, maybe he uses the minimum amount of epoxy so that the handles are easily reknotted when the time comes?

Anyway, I agree with Jack, at least it is an easy fix. Just use some epoxy. (Actually, at this stage, if you don't have any epoxy around, I think almost any multipurpose glue may do the trick.)

You kept it to close to The Veg. No doubt it did itself in, feeling unchosen.

Seriously, I'm glad it looks like an easy fix, at least.

I would be very careful of Inner Brush Toxic Shock Syndrome for which there is no known cure. The only thing that you can do is bundle it up and send it to me to dispose of in a proper manner. As I have unlimited access to large areas of uninhabited Australian desert where the item can be stored safe from human contact. I can guarantee that no one will have to live through the horrific and often debilitating results of a case of IBTSS.

Nah, I'm joking, just epoxy that knot back in and give it enough time to set properly before you enjoy it again.

That is the first time this happens on a RV brush! The fix is easy: use some 2-part epoxy and and glue id back in. I have test dropped several of my brushes, and the knot never came loose, just the handles crack sometimes (depending on material, on what ground it fell and the way it hit the ground). The amount of glue is the exact amount that is needed to fill the gap between the knot and the handle, without squeezing into the hair - one will also avoid any trapping of air and making the gap as small as possible to avoid water and soap getting in it, too.
On the other hand, I also have re-glued several knots in a few of the highly loved name-makers....I think its just a thing of the physics how the handle hit the ground, edge of the sink etc and in the most cases, nothing happens, but in some cases the shear forces are so strong the the glue bond breaks.

As everybody noted, it is an easy fix. I was just surprised it even happened!

Time for a new brush.... Enabling!

NO!! Bad Mad Man! I have finally gotten my ADs in check! :001_tongu

Eh, it's just one of those things. No big deal. I just found it strange that it happened.

Easy fix is right, in the future I would also avoid soaking the brush especially in HOT water. If you do soak it avoid the water being all the way up to the handle. I place my brush hair down in my Grandfather old mug and fill it to just below the handle with warm or cold water

Your first picture may contain a clue to the culprit.

I suppose you weren't chosen. :biggrin1:

Hmm...I wouldn't think that mattered?? I do just throw it in a sink of hot water along with my razor and let it soak while I take a shower. And my hot water isn't hot as in scalding.
