What's new

My plan. backfiring

I'm on a budget as of late, so I decided to control my RAD with a "clever" idea. I would not buy any razor that is over $10. I don't make it out to antique malls, and I have a specific list of what I want, so it should be a piece of cake, right?

Well, it's Wednesday, and I've already bought 2 razors.

I am chasing down razors I won't even use - Why do I have to have "purrty" cased razors that sit in a drawer. What is the emotional connection of having them, hunting them? - I thought I has problems until.....

My new search is a display case so I can admire my small, modest high quality collection, that would make me happy to see them in the bathroom. Problem solved.

:001_wub: Reminds me of the first 7 weeks of DE shaving, haaaa... 8 razors and 2 shavettes. Then I learned what I had to learn and gave all to my friends until I was left with one razor and 2 base plates.
I thought RAD was cured until this week, I bought a Feather Popular and almost went insane fighting the impulse to buy a Feather TAS-DS set. So far my free will has won, but I don't know for how long. Maybe I need to divert my attention to after-shaves and colognes, maybe then the RAD will go away.

Consider yourself lucky...my RAD led me to buy over 120 razors within the last 5 months. I've Sold/traded/gifted many of them now and kept plenty for collecting. My RAD has settled for the most part, but it flares up when a good deal comes along that I can't pass up!

I'm trying to control myself, but it's hard at times. I've been on and off with the various disorders since 2007. I had been on the wagon for about a year and a half, going happily along with my EJ razor and boar brush, and then all of a sudden, without any warning, in December I felt the need to buy 3 badger brushes, which I've barely used. I will probably sell those soon. The last 2 months its been razors. I bought 2 News, a Merkur OC, a 58 TV SS, a red tip and a 48-50 Aristocrat. So now I have 6 razors. Yay me.
