(In all seriousness, he's my pet that I've had for over a year, I just thought I'd start off the day with a laugh).

At least it looks like he won't gnaw your face off if you decided to use him as a brush unlike that picture of a very angry badger I've seen posted here. :wink2:

Yes, he's a hedgehog and his name is Tungsten. (I have a PhD in chemistry and am a huge nerd to boot. Plus I didn't want to be cliche and name him Sonic or Spike like everyone else).

I've always thought hedgehogs were really neat animals. There was a population of wild hedgehogs in Lancashire, when I lived there. I always enjoyed coming across one on an evening walk.

cool - how is it as a pet. Does he live in the garden, or scaper around the house, or smend most of his time in a cage?

It's a good name Witty, really seems to fit well! Might have to do something with I'm called a nerd often. Maybe.

And I'm glad I wasn't drinking anything when I read your comment Rudy, I would have lost my drink!

He was almost a year old when I adopted him from someone and obviously had not been handled much as he would get really pissed at the slightest movement or sound and curl up in a ball and huff. He stays in his cage most of the time, but I let him out daily to handle him for 30-40 minutes or so and he is really chill about it now. The initial investment for one is a little steep though...they cost about $75-100 from the pet store (mine was adopted for free), then you have to pay for a cage setup and supplies which can run another $40 and up depending what you get. They are really low maintenance pets and live about 5-6 years.
