My New Scuttle

So I went to my local potter here in Plano, TX and designed a scuttle with him. (He had never heard of one)

We talked about concept, dimensions, style, and color. Today, after patiently waiting a few weeks, I went and picked it up today. To me, it looks very similar to those that are discussed on the B&B, but it was around half price of what I have seen online. Let me know what you think!

Oh, and it holds heat quite nicely!

Looks really sharp! I'm doing the same and am having a scuttle made by the wife of a coworker. Supposed to be for Christmas, but more likely for Valentine's Day.

Great looking scuttle! Let us know how you make out with it. I'm still up in the air on getting one for myself...

Nicely done! Looks very similar to a Moss Scuttle.

You may find the water volume may not be quite enough when it's really cold in the house. When that happens I just place mine on a cup warmer. This keeps the whole scuttle nice and warm while still keeping the brush safely away from direct heat. That is to say, I would never suggest just placing a coffee cup on a cup warmer and dropping your brush in it - you'll fry the tips of your brush. I know this first hand. By using a scuttle the brush is kept away from the heat source. Just make sure your outlet is on a ground fault circuit - dont' want to get zapped.

Nice job. It's great to work with local artisans to create one-of-a-kind pieces. I'm inspired. I may have to stop by Sunset Canyon Pottery in Dripping Springs and see if they'll make me one.

I was thinking the same thing about Sunset Canyon, We go out there every year around this time to get pieces for my mother-in-law for Christmas!

I like it a lot, and I cant believe how insulated it is. Definetly the best way to keep your lather warm...

What a great Idea to custom-make a scuttle. You inspired me to look around for a local pottery!

Happy shaving!

Let me know if they're game for making one - I'd buy one. That's two customers! :001_smile
