What's new

My new Rudy Vey brush

Hey there Gents,

A few weeks ago, I ordered a handle from our friend Rudy Vey. He delivered a beautiful Chubby/Stubby type handle in a material that he called a resin stabilized "Dymondwood" Charcoal. It is absolutely beautiful and I love it to pieces.

Anyways, my knot arrived to me this morning. It's a 24mm TGN Finest Fan XH. This is the same knot that I used in my first restore of a vintage Erskine K-200 Butterscoth brush that you will see later. The knot in the Erskine was set at 48mm. I wanted this one to have a little bit more backbone so I set it at 45mm.

It's drying now, but tomorrow morning I'll give it a first lather and take some bloomed photos for your enjoyment!

Well guys, I have good news and bad news.

Good news first you say? Not really my style but alright. She works. And I mean DAMN well works. This thing is dense for days, backbone for weeks. Gobbled up a very hard and dry puck of AoS like it was nothing. Lather hog you say? Not in the least. Had no problems getting the lather to release at all. Feels like I've been using this thing for years, and it's only her first time out. I can only see it getting better from here.

The bad news? Well, I don't want to use any of my other brushes anymore!

Pics or it didn't happen!

Very nice! I love watching new posts on Rudy's handles. It's like waiting for your favorite artist to come out with his latest creation!
