What's new

My new Rooney 1/2

Just got my new Rooney 1/2 in super today! I'm pretty excited. You all know the feeling... Love the handle! but this is a shorter loft and larger knot than any of my other brushes. Thought this might be a decent face lathering badger brush. Can't wait to see how it performs.

Out of the box, though, I must say that this is the stiffest brush I own. All the other's are Semogues (what can I say?). I have the 1305, 830 (boars)and 730 (silvertip). My broken-in 830 is easily the nicest feeling brush on my face that I own, and the 730 is very nice also. I'm really hoping that this Rooney will get there after a few uses. I'm giving Ambrose "break in" method a go tonight.

Maybe I'll post some pictures later...

Just got mine yesterday. I love it. I did a test lather late last night, so I didn't want to use it this morning. I'll be standing in my bathroom for about 30 minutes tonight deciding what soap I'll be using it on tomorrow.

The only danger is that you may forget the rest of your brushes once you start using your 1/2. I'll never ever be without mine.

Here's some pics! Already starting to soften up after soaking in soapy water for a few hours!

L-U-V (oh yeah, grade school style) da fat! It's my "deserted-island" soap pick for sure!

The "Ambrose treatment" worked pretty well, and the brush wasn't harsh on my face at all this morning, though there's still a good bit of bite on the soap. All that stiffness and scratchiness I felt at first seems to have disappeared. I think it was a combination of it just needing to get out of the box and decompress itself, and that it is a shorter loft than my other brushes.

This knot shape is little bit more bulbous than my other brushes too, and is extremely dense. Also, the handle is pretty hefty too, it seems. So I'm going to have to get used to it a little bit.... new toys are fun!
