What's new

My New Robert Williams

Well, it arrived about a week ago, but I have been a bit too busy to post. I ordered a 7/8, 1/4 grind, French point, monkey tail with mammoth ivory scales. Here is what it looks like:

That's a beaut! I have a Williams and love my it. Far and away the most comfortable shaver in my collection.

Maybe one day, I'll have saved enough pennies to get a Zowanda and compare them. But that's a long ways in the future. Until then, I figure I'm very fortunate to have a Williams, and enjoy every shave I make with it.

It shaves like a dream. Balance on it is perfect. Effortless glide across the face. I love Robert's work. I have one of his earlier blades done in giraffe that is also a magnificent shaver. I feel fortunate to be able to own two beautiful blades from a master craftsman.

Fantastic selection. Robert's dedication to craftsmanship shows in all of his work. I have one and absolutely love it, in fact I like it so much I have another on order.......I think I come up on the list in about 5 months now.

Very nice razor!

I love the steel that he makes. They can be tricky sometimes to hone but they are simply the smoothest shavers that I own.

Enjoy,
Richard

Wow, looked nice.

What kind of homepage can I visit to place and order or maybe just see this Roberts work?.

Thanks.

Thanks.

A question for you, why do you take a bigger blade then 5/8 ? I got one of those, only been shaving for a week but.

I'm curious on why people take the bigger blades, looking throu his album I saw most of them was in the larger segement.

Is it the looks or ?

I started out with a 5/8 hollow grind. Through experimentation, hollow grind vice other grinds, 5/8 vice 6/8, 6/8 vice 7/8, 7/8 vice 8/8, 8/8 vice larger, I just came to the conclusion that I liked at least a 7/8, preferred at least a 1/4 hollow grind vice a full hollow grind and enjoyed various point shapes (but I particularly like a Barber's point, Spanish point, and French point).
I like the feel of the 1/4 grind and the 7/8 gives me just the right amount of heft that feels good in the hand. In addition, the 7/8 can gather more lather while shaving before having to be rinsed. So, it is all purely subjective and everyone has their preferences.

Cheers,
Steve

If your really serious about getting one from Williams what I recommend you do is get on his list and decide on what you want as you wait. The list is long, I think about 9 months. In that time you'll have decided on your personal preference.

That's the 15-second tutorial on how to figure out what to order in a custom razor. :thumbup1: No sense dropping major coin on a custom piece of art before you actually know what you want.
