My new Razor stand

Nothing that many don't already have, everybody has probably seen but this one is a bit custom.

It uses a pen blank for the middle so the options are limitless. My friend is a wood turner who makes pens by the bucket load so I had him turn the checkerboard blank for me. Just finished putting it together.

Looks really great and I also like the checkered pattern, however I am not quite sure how it is made, what is a "pen blank"? It is a kit and you get the middle part of a pen to form the stand's column?

Thanks for all the positive comments! I took a long time trying to figure out what I wanted and this one fills the bill perfectly.

Johan, exactly. A Pen blank is just a rectangle that you put on a lathe and turn to the shape that you want. They pre-cut a standard size that is used for making pens. This kit is complete with the exception of whatever you use in the middle. You can use hundreds (maybe 1000's) of different blanks including exotic woods.
