John Barber was in business from 1810 until 1834. The tail shape didn't really change between 1810 and 1835 for most makers so there's no way to date it more accurately than that I'm afraid.
Not that I've ever read that anyone has ever been able to figure out.Thanks for the info John. So the maker stamp and "Patent Tempered Steel" doesn't help at all?
