My New Obsession: Henson AL13+

Well, I didn’t think anything would dethrone the Rockwell 6S for me, but I’m absolutely smitten with my new Henson - and only after one shave.

Lightweight, maneuverable, and high quality machined tolerances. It’s definitely a mild razor, which I love, but the efficiency is off the charts. I just tackled two days worth of growth like it was nothing. Paired the Henson with a Personna Comfort Coated blade and went to town with a 2 pass shave. The results were a spectacular BBS shave.

I normally get a lot of irritation on my neck, but since there is so little blade exposure and no blade chatter at all, I was able to take on the trouble areas on my neck without any problems.

I kept reading that it only cuts on a certain angle, but that angle was incredibly easy to find and maintain throughout the shave. This would make for a fantastic beginner’s razor or for the shaving vets as well.

Very happy with this purchase and would definitely recommend a Henson to anyone on the fence about it.

Have a good trip friend, it won't be the first nor the last razor dethroned

Congrats. Henson makes a great razor.

Shave #2 was just as amazing as the first, tonight. Loaded up an Astra SP and did another two pass shave. The Astra SP feels like it performed better than the Personna from last night. No irritation and smooth as silk. This DE is a game changer for me. Absolutely love it!

Same here 2nd shave with a GSB, the paper wrapper ones, the shave was first class proper BBS.
It's so easy to use, a perfect razor
I picked it up used on ebay for £56, nearly talked myself out of buying it, so glad I didn't.

Well, I got a Henson and was gobsmacked at how good it was. I ordered the medium and found myself wondering how anything could possibly be more mild. The reason is -- they sent a mild, not a medium. Order said ++, packing slip said ++, box is labeled ++, but their packager put the wrong razor in the box, see head photo below. I've sent a request for a return and a new medium razor. Can't wait to try it.

They designed it around the Astra so I have found they work about the best in the Henson razor.
That’s awesome and I had no idea they did it around the Astra. It performs amazingly well in it.

I tried out the Gillette Silver Blues tonight in my Henson and was a little underwhelmed. A little rough and tuggy on some areas, but a DFS nonetheless. I’ll definitely be sticking with the Astras as my go to’s in the future for sure.

I believe they found the Astra blade width to be about the median between a bunch of different blades. It may have also been a really consistent blade. They used it to size their head geometry.

Other blades work well, but I find the Astra to work extremely well in my Henson razors.
