What's new

My new Morris & Forndran vs. my other new brushes

My Morris & Forndran (type 1, size 2) arrived yesterday. I could tell that this was a special brush right out of the box and again when used it this morning; it generated gobs of thick lather from my QCS puck. It has excellent softness and backbone, a rarity in one brush. I think it's up there in the same class with my Rooney 2XL, which is the highest praise I can give it. I can't wait to see how it performs once it's broken in. I have a Simpsons and a Thater on the way (both larger 2-bands), but I honestly can't imagine that they'll surpass the M & F, but I could be wrong, especially since I prefer bigger brushes (26 - 28mm knots) like the Simpsons and Thater. I wonder which of the three will end up on the B/S/T...I'm sure at least one of them will.

I have that same brush in a size 1. Great Brush. Got mine from Classic Shaving and I think I paid about 120 shipped or thereabouts. The hair is called Blonde Badger, and it has been referenced as a Finest Grade. The owner of M&F also owns Rooney brushes, so similarities are to be expected. Some think that the hair is similar to the Rooney Finest that is no longer available, so there is mystery and speculation surrounding the hair in the brush. All I know is that it is fantabulous!

Yes, i got it at Vintage Blades. They also make custom brushes and I'm thinking about saving up for a big one - 28mm or thereabouts.
