My 'new' Fatip

I just received a Fatip Piccolo in the mail yesterday and had my first shave with it this morning.
When I first opened the box it came it, I was surprised how tiny the whole razor was in my hand (I know, I know...'piccolo'..'tiny' I get it! ). The razor was much heavier than it's diminutive appearance belies with its solid little handle plus heavy head.
Per other's recommendations, I swapped out the small original handle for a larger one. Most of my razors tend to be large-handled so it is a size I am most comfortable with shaving. The Piccolo handle simply felt too small in my hands.
I used the 'Grande' handle from my R41—not an ideal fit, but it was secure enough to ensure a 'safe' shave.

I loaded a Personna Med blade and prepped for the shave. Plenty of blade exposure, rivaling the 2011 R41...

End result: An excellent, comfortable, close shave. The Fatip produced significant audio feedback (not unlike the R41), as well as an extremely close shave even after a single pass. I found the Fatip to be a bit more forgiving than the Mühle as well, yet still produced a quality shave that rivaled the Beast in closeness. This razor will certainly remain in the razor rotation as I came away quite impressed with this nice 'little' OC razor. The Mühle handle will return to the R41, and an Ikon Bulldog II will soon be paired with the Fatip. Happy shaving ahead! :001_smile

Good shavers but I hate how loose blades fit. I spend a solid minute making sure its as straight as I can get it. The caps on the Fatips are skinny and give the illusion of a far more aggressive razor than it really is, that's not to say that it isn't aggressive though. To be honest, I prefer my Cadet OC's.

There is a post somewhere by Alex that states which handles do and do not fit the Fatip. Be sure to read that before buying. The threads are smaller than the usual threads used on razors. They seem to be a 10-32 pitch rather than the metric size (I can't remember it off the top of my head). The metric size will fit the 10-32 threads BUT, there is very little thread engagement so it's very sloppy and could easily ruin your Fatip top cap over time.

I tried my Piccolo with a Shavecraft Bulldog (made by Ikon) & it didn't fit. I got a UFO short Kaiser instead, tapped with a FaTip thread & that is a superb match with the Piccolo head.

Wow, looks like the Fatip actually has more exposure, however the comb is longer which is probably why it is not quite as aggressive as the R41 , really want to get a Fatip

With this R41 (2011), the blade edge is quite evident while shaving. The Fatip, despite the significant exposure, feels milder on the face. Long combs do makes a difference. Since the R41's design really isn't a true OC, but a modified bar with 'ridges', the user gets to be more intimate with the razor's edge.
:wink2:

fatips are awesome especially for the money. finish issues aside (and believe me there are issues at one time i had 6 fatips all with their own different plating issues) its a awesome razor. imo a even heavier handle the the r41 grande makes a huge difference i LOVE the ikon oss handle with mine and once in a while if i really want it to be aggressive ill use the matador grande (sabo t1) long handle.

Used an Ikon Bulldog II handle today with the Fatip. Much better balance and I love the grip on the Bulldog.
I can see why there's so much love for both these handles and the Fatip heads. Great combo...
