My new brush - she's a beauty!

Hello everyone,

I placed an order for a custom John Turner piece a couple of weeks ago, and I'm thrilled to say that John emailed me this morning saying that my brush is finished, packaged, and ready to ship! That was quicker than I expected!

Anyhow, John included with his message a few pictures that he took of my brush. I am blown away by his craftsmanship... this is exactly what I was hoping for. I have relatively long fingers/hands, so I've always wanted to try a brush with a relatively large handle - this looks like it will be perfect for me. John was also incredibly professional and prompt throughout this whole project, start to finish. I can't wait to see how this brush performs... if it's as good as it looks, I have an awful feeling that I might have to get in touch with John about making another one of his pieces soon.

Thanks for your responses, guys! To answer your questions:

The handle is made out of an exotic wood that John had in his collection. I'm really happy with how it looks.

I agree that the knot "looks" a little short, but I don't think that it is.... I specifically requested an oversized handle which I think makes the knot look short, scale-wise. After much deliberation, I ended up choosing a TGN 24mm Finest bulb and asked John to set it at 48.
I was looking for a fairly scrubby (but not too scrubby) brush with good backbone to complement what I already have.... I hope this will fit the bill! This is the first brush that I've had 100% custom designed to my specifications, and John executed it perfectly... so I just hope I like my choices!
I'm obviously very excited to give it a try when it arrives.

B&B Friends,
I'm happy to report that my new custom brush from John Turner arrived this week and want to share a bloom pic with all of you!! I've been using it for the past several days, and all I can say is: WOW!!! It's very quickly becoming one of my new favorites.... the 24mm knot is such a great size for me, and the 2-band gives me such a nice backbone yet still gives super soft tips at the same time. There is a small hint of scrub/scritch with this brush, but to me, it's just about perfect! ( I don't like super pillowy soft soft soft brushes anyway ). Also, it's been fun to watch this brush improve it's performance with each use, and I'm sure this will continue as it continues to get broken in.

Also, I must say that the handle is exquisite.... so much detail - the pics in no way can capture the beauty of this piece. It's super comfortable to hold too...

Don't tell my family, but I'm starting to get worried that I might have to ask John to make me another brush or two soon!!! :thumbup1:

TGN Finest are excellent knots. And a 24 set at 48 is a great setup.

I don't see how you could not enjoy it. Congrats.
