My Injector Is Lost - What Would Be Similar?

Hello,

For some years, I've been using an injector style razor. It wasn't an official Schick, I don't believe, but I quite liked it, nonetheless.

When I returned home from a trip recently, I found that my razor was gone. Although I know where it is, there is only a 5% chance it will be sent back to me.

Being extremely sensitive skinned, and as a woman with a lot of area to cover (legs), I really loved the single blade of the injector. It never irritated my skin. It was an easy transition from holding diposable razors, but the results were vastly superior. (I had nightmares all my life with razors before the injector - due to sensitivity.) Granted, I still had trouble on the outside of my ankles, but I think that's just anatomy difficulty and not a razor fault.

The idea of a safety razor (non injector) intimidates me. It looks more like I could slice myself with one of those. Then again, I've never actually handled one -- only saw photos. Am I being silly? I've seen that Walgreen's sells the Merkur's which are often recommended for beginners.

Is the handling of a safety razor with a double edged blade different than an injector? (Describe please?)

What are my options for replacing my injector? Anything similar? Any "new" injectors for sale today? (I haven't seen any.)

In case this is going to be an expensive venture, are there any temporary disposables with single blades that you'd recommend? (Will save up for a better razor, but I really hate being fuzzy!)

Help?

Thank you.

If you look on E bay or Etsy or even Craigslist you should be able to find a used vintage injector. A NOS (new old stock) razor is also a possibility here. Look on the buy sell trade section of the forum frequently as I see them there too. I see them in literally every antique shop I cruise looking for old DE stuff as they have not sprung to the forefront in popularity yet. Good luck with your hunt, and welcome to the forums.

Welcome!

There seem to be more than a few injectors in the for sale section right now, if you wanted to peruse.

What do you knit?

Welcome to B&B.

As others have said, there are plenty of injectors around, and they show up on the BuySellTrade section pretty much every day I think. They're usually pretty cheap on here, so i'm sure you can soon find something similar to your previous razor.

This page shows Injector models. See if you can find one like yours. Did yours use regular injector blades?

Thanks for the help, everyone. I will definitely be looking through all the suggested places, trying to figure out what best suits me.

Hawgsquatch thanks for the info!.

Mine was apparently a knock-off by Nationwide Campus -- although at first I thought I had one of the Type-Os from Japan. (So disappointing when I realized Schick would have had their name on it somewhere if it was really an authentic Schick.) Still, it actually was a very nice razor for me. I've read negative things about them, but I was pleased with mine.

Bluebriz, That's a very helpful page. Mine did indeed take regular injector blades. Will have to study those models. Will surely miss the long handle, rubbery grip, and angle mine had.

Pattorashu, a simple sweater in progress now. Just learning socks (heels are tricky) - love good wool!
