What's new

my husband's gift arrived today!

I hope he likes the choices... he's just getting started in wet shaving and I was looking for a razor that would be less aggressive, and easy to reload. He tried a 3 part razor (I believe) before that didn't work out so well (lots of nicks and difficulty). I decided on the Parker 82r, and hoping the butterfly mechanism works well. I'm kinda second guessing the razor choice.

The brush is a Simpson Special best badger, which I hope isn't too small to hold. The blue box is this stand which looks much better & heavier in person than I expected.

I hope he likes it! Is there anything I should swap out or change/add?

Swap out the husband. With a shaving kit like that, any of us would be happy to take his place.

You did good. Some of those items I've had and enjoyed (like the Simpson Special) and some I wouldn't mind trying. In order for me to get shaving items for Christmas, I have to order them and let my wife open the box and wrap them. It's really special for you to take the initiative and order. :thumbup1:

Thanks, you guys are sweet. But, I can't help second guess everything! Is the knot too small on the brush? I thought it would be a bit fuller. Ugh... I wish I had had more time to research it all more. I had no idea there were so many options!

I think you did great! He may not even know exactly what he likes at this point - that will take some trial and error. You gave him a good foundation to start with.
Like njpdaddy, I order all of my 'gifts' and have my wife or one of the kids wrap them up for me. I'm sure your husband will be very happy.

Simpsons special is a very nice brush and the knot is the prefect size and loft for a face lathering brush.

It will "fill out" after it gets wet. when it starts to dry the opened hairs is called bloom. It won't look like this one but it will double in size after it is used

Glad to hear you had a good personal experience with the brush!

I had no idea there were so many choices. He hinted for a shaving brush a while ago and I've been thoroughly confused on what to buy! Though he did show me exactly what he wanted on Amazon for a shoe warmer (he's cycles in the rain). It's under the tree, from 'Santa'. I'm not sure why, but I really hate when he hints so directly & then here I am so worried that I chose wrong...

Maybe ordering for yourself and letting her wrap it is really the best way

That's really good to know. Thanks!

The brush will get a bit fuller and softer after a few uses. While I haven't used a Special, I love using a brush that has an even smaller knot than that, so he will definitely have plenty of brush to whip around. Good idea on the blade sampler too.

Thats a terrific gift! Merry Christmas

Thanks, I'm feeling better about it all now. Time to wrap it and let it be. :001_smile Thanks, you guys are great!

I think he'll be very happy, you made some really nice choices. I'm sure he will see all the effort you put in making this happen.
Let us know what he thinks! Merry Christmas!:santa:
